Garric Vosloo
Hey, I’m Garric, I’ve been consulting with physiotherapy patients since 1994 after graduating from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. I have successfully owned and run 2 private practices since 1995. Had the privilege of working with Olympic athletes since the 2000 Olympics. Consulted with the national rugby team players, provincial hockey and soccer teams, and looked after numerous professional athletes from a variety of sports. I have completed over 80,000 consultations and currently look after clients on 5 continents. But it has not always been the same. In fact, for several years I felt the medical industry wasn’t progressing. Even though I was lecturing at a post graduate level from 1996 on various physiotherapy subjects, I could see the short comings.
After working with patients with sports and orthopedic conditions I began to realise that there was an element missing. It was my perception that traditional medicine was treating the symptoms and not the root cause of the patient’s problem.
After studying at the Sports Science Institute of UCT in 1997 -1999 it was obvious that in sports medicine too, new thinking was needed. Working with national and Olympic team members revealed injuries that could have been prevented with taking a more in-depth approach to the whole athlete.
In 1999, my hands and especially my thumbs started aching. I was in constant pain while doing manual therapy on my clients. I had my thumbs strapped while treating clients. My hands would wake me up at night and I started to think that my career would be coming to an end. I noticed that my hands would get worse depending on what I ate and my level of stress. I took every course available to learn as much as I could about physiotherapy techniques and ventured into alternative techniques including kinesiology, acupuncture, muscle energy, nutrition, supplementation and anything else I could find. But there was still something missing that we could do to help patients.
In 2007, I would meet a thought leader physician, Dr. Badenhorst. Dr. Badenhorst would change the way I approached a patient’s health concerns. He introduced me to a new thought process around low penetrance genetics. Using lifestyle strategies, a patient could control their health. Like a dimmer light switch, it was possible to influence genetics. I understood how lifestyle, exercise, food and supplementation actually influenced our health. This led not only to improvements in my own health but also my family and patients’ health, too.
It was then that First Line Therapy and Functional Medicine came to South Africa. Once I went through these introductory courses, I knew this was the missing link to understanding the deep root causes to patient conditions. This started my travels to the USA on the road to be an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner (2011-2016).
Since moving to practice in the USA in 2016, my passion is helping patients overcome difficult injuries and other health-related concerns. Helping the patient not only overcome their challenges but create a strong base level health that allows them to prevent further recurrence and live the life they deserve. Along with being the medical advisor to KetoNutrition Elite Team, the Founder of Just Add Nutrition, founder of The Ultra Athlete Project, and mentoring other health practitioners into Functional Medicine.

Dr. Dirk Parvus
Dr. Dirk Parvus is triple board certified in family, emergency and sports medicine. An expert in Age Management Medicine, Dr. Parvus, received Physician Training & Certification jointly sponsored by Cenegenics Education and Research Foundation (CERF) and the Foundation for Care Management (FCM). In addition, he has completed Levels 1, 2 and 3 of the Bio-identical Hormone Replacement courses run by Worldlink. He is also a member of the Institute of Lifestyle Medicine and is an Institute of Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner.
In 2011, Dr. Parvus founded the Parvus Center to offer patients the medical knowledge he has gained from his expertise in the fields of Age Management, Preventative and Functional Medicine. He is also investigating the emerging and promising therapies that use telomerase activator and stem cells to rejuvenate and regenerate the body. He is particularly focused on utilizing his knowledge to treat the Cardiometabolic Syndrome which has become an epidemic in our community. Dr. Parvus’ ultimate goal is to help patients avoid the debilitating diseases of aging so that they too can enjoy life to the fullest well into their 80’s and 90’s.
Dr. Parvus earned his undergraduate, MBA, and medical degree from the University of the Witswatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He completed his residency in family medicine at Penn State’s Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. In 1979, during his medical training, he developed an Aerobic Center based on the teaching of fitness pioneer Dr. Kenneth Cooper. He went on to establish a sports medicine office in 1987 before entering the field of emergency medicine and becoming the medical director of the emergency room at Sebastian River Medical Center in Florida.
Dr. Parvus is a strong believer in preventive medicine through exercise and lifestyle modification. In 1990, at age 40, Dr. Parvus ran his first Boston Marathon in 3 hours and 36 min. He completed 8 subsequent marathons in Boston as well as several others in New York, Orlando and Miami. However, by 2007, his pace had slowed to 4 hours and 54 minutes. He initially attributed the decline in his race times to the normal slow-down associated with aging, but after doing extensive research, he discovered Age Management Medicine.
In August 2007, Dr. Parvus began his own treatment journey, using proven protocols to help restore and maintain optimal health and vigor. Within six months, he had shaved almost half an hour off his time at the 2008 Disney Marathon (4 hours and 31 minutes), effectively reversing a 2-decade decline. A few months later, Dr. Parvus accomplished a lifelong goal by running the Comrades Ultra Marathon, a 54-mile endurance race in South Africa, and the following year he realized another dream by hiking to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Kenya.
In addition to his practice, Dr. Parvus is an advocate for the medically underserved. In 2007 he founded the non-profit organization Haiti Clinic and he currently serves on their board of directors, visiting Haiti regularly to treat the impoverished people of Cite Soleil. He was recently honored with the 2010 Brevard County Humanitarian Award and as the 2010 Indian River County Hero of Medicine for his continued efforts in Haiti.
